A Plan For The Southend of West Palm Beach

Keith James has served on the City Commission since 2011, two of those years as President of the Commission. He has helped guide our city during lean, economic times to ensure we kept taxes low, maintained essential city services and moved forward important neighborhood projects.

INVESTMENT ALONG SOUTH DIXIE HIGHWAY
While other parts of our city, like the downtown and northend, have CRAs to help with projects, the southend of West Palm Beach does not. Keith will work with Congresswoman Lois Frankel on the House Appropriations Committee to identify funding opportunities. Also, Keith will look at grant funding opportunities through CDBG funding and other resources to invest in properties and businesses along the corridor.
LISTEN TO OUR NEIGHBORHOODS
Keith has launched a Neighborhoods First Initiative and a Mayor’s Neighborhood Advisory Group to provide information, share ideas and collaborate together on local issues. Keith will focus on community meetings to ensure residents, business owners and constituency groups have their voices heard and are listened too. Keith supports hosting quarterly Mayor’s southend meetings in the southend to make it easier for residents to share their ideas.
PUBLIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS
Keith has prioritized public safety and will focus on community policing efforts in our neighborhoods. Keith supports adding additional officers to the Traffic Division to go after speeders in our neighborhoods and along our roadways and more Public Life Officers to improve coverage in our parks and open spaces.
8111 SITE AND THE GOLF COURSE
Keith has made the Golf Course redevelopment a priority. There are several plans being proposed by different groups. As the gateway to our city, what happens on this site is so important. Keith envisions synergy between the new golf course and the 8111 site. Keith will host community meetings with residents and business owners to ensure what goes on this site meets the community’s needs, is in character with the neighborhood and serves as a catalyst for investment on the corridor.
MANAGE THE 1-PENNY SALES TAX PROJECTS
There are six projects that are being funded by the 1-penny sales tax for road resurfacing, park improvements and bike paths. Keith will make sure these projects remain on schedule and are completed. Keith is focused on improving communication with our residents and businesses so you know what is happening and when.
PRIORITIZE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
There are over 50 additional projects that are part of the city’s plan for roadway, utility, parks and public safety improvements. Keith will ensure these projects stay funded, that residents are communicated with about the status of the projects and that the projects stay on budget and on time.
