LIFE-SAVING HURRICANE RESPONSE

When our city got the call from an assisted living home that had lost power after the hurricane, Keith James knew he had to help. The director of the facility refused the city’s offer to bring generators to power the air conditioning, and seniors had been left sweltering in the heat. Keith rushed to the facility with ice and water and demanded more be done to improve conditions. He insisted that generators be provided for residents of the home who were suffering from the heat and that everyone be moved to the cooler first floor, leading to drastically improved circumstances. Keith’s quick thinking saved lives.
